Giving a well loved home a new beginning
Great Durnford, Wiltshire
When a local estate manager purchased this three bedroom bungalow, it was clear the property had been well cared for over many years but had seen very few modern updates. The home no longer met the standards expected of today's rental market, creating an opportunity to carefully renovate it while respecting its character.
Working closely with the client, we developed a renovation plan that would improve the home's comfort, efficiency and practicality, creating a welcoming space ready for its next occupants.
The transformation touched almost every part of the property. New windows, upgraded insulation, contemporary cladding, complete rewiring, new plumbing and a modern heating system brought the bungalow up to today's standards, while a full refurbishment of the bathroom and WC ensured every room felt fresh and ready for modern living.
The kitchen was thoughtfully reconfigured by removing built in cupboards to create a more practical layout and introducing a new doorway providing easier access to the driveway. Throughout the home, new internal doors, refreshed plasterwork and a carefully chosen neutral colour palette created bright, welcoming spaces ready for the new tenants to make their own.
One of the most characterful additions was the installation of a new log burner within the lounge. Alongside soft neutral flooring throughout, it introduced warmth and personality while complementing the property's more traditional feel.
Rather than changing the identity of the bungalow, the renovation focused on revealing its full potential. The result is a home that feels brighter, more comfortable and thoughtfully updated, while remaining sympathetic to its original character.
Following the renovation, the property was successfully let, beginning a new chapter for both the home and its future occupants.
