A bungalow reimagined for modern living

Sometimes the perfect home is already in the perfect location. For our clients, a retired couple who loved both their garden and the surrounding area, moving was never the ambition. Instead, the goal was to reimagine the bungalow they already loved and create a home that offered the space and comfort to enjoy for many years to come.

Although full of potential, the original bungalow had become too small for the way the clients wanted to live. Rather than simply adding extra rooms, the vision was to completely rethink the property, creating a brighter, more spacious home while remaining sympathetic to its original character.

What followed was a transformation that touched almost every part of the house. Extensive front and rear extensions completely reshaped the bungalow, creating generous new living spaces, a larger kitchen, additional bedrooms and a practical utility area. The redesign wasn't simply about adding square footage, but about creating a home that flowed naturally from one space to the next.

One of the defining features of the project is the striking glazed rear gable, which fills the new living space with natural light while creating a strong visual connection to the garden beyond. It has become a feature that perfectly reflects the overall transformation, bringing together contemporary design and everyday comfort.

The project was carried out during the challenges of the Covid pandemic, requiring flexibility, careful planning and close collaboration throughout. Despite the circumstances, the vision remained unchanged, and every stage of the build continued to move forward with care and attention to detail.

Although we don't have internal photographs to share, respecting our clients' privacy, the completed home reflects exactly what they had hoped to achieve. The bungalow has been transformed into a bright, spacious home designed around modern living while remaining in the location they had always wanted to call home.
